Nicholas Tamagna

Acclaimed as "one of the most compelling countertenors of his generation," Nicholas Tamagna has captivated audiences across Europe, North America, and Asia with his rich, powerful voice and commanding stage presence. From Baroque masterworks to contemporary operatic creations, his versatility has earned him appearances at the world's most prestigious houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Theater an der Wien, San Francisco Opera, and Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

Tamagna's portrayals of Handel's iconic heroes—Rinaldo, Giulio Cesare, and roles in Agrippina and Partenope—have become touchstones of his career, praised for their "dazzling coloratura and profound emotional depth." His Oberon in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream and performances in major oratorio works from Bach to Pergolesi further demonstrate an artistry that spans four centuries of repertoire.

Beyond the stage, Tamagna is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of artists. As Artistic Director and co-founder of Forum Neue Kunst Oldenburg e.V. in Germany, he has spent the past five years creating opportunities for emerging singers and composers through innovative productions, composer residencies, and interdisciplinary collaborations—proving that vibrant art can flourish even in challenging times. As a vocal pedagogue, he brings the same intensity and curiosity to teaching that defines his performances, working with singers to unlock both the technical and expressive potential of the voice.

Based between Europe and Asia, Tamagna continues to champion both the preservation of historical repertoire and the creation of new works, reflecting his belief in classical music as a living, breathing art form.
